Why is Sen. McCain distancing himself from Phil Gramm's remarks?

McCain is distancing himself from the remarks because they are derogatory and minimize people's problems. It's not about semantics, whether this is an actual recession or not. The fact of the matter is, many people are feeling the crunch of the economic slowdown/recession.
