Why are there so many people afraid of lsd?

since its invention in the 50s lsd has been known as a seen a a great tool to advance mankind in the spiritual form. unlike like any other drugs lsd cuts to the conscience of a person rather than the nervous system. It has the ability to change your life for the better by putting a more simple and realistic view on the world. It shows the the beauty of this world. And i know its not the tripping aspect cause so many people want to do shroom but not lsd! Shrooms are way more screwy thatn acid hand down. So please tell me why does acid have such a bad rap in the mainstream?
