How to tune a Jl Audio 500/1 amp?

i have a 500/1 amplifier powering two 12w3v2's and i really dont know what all those nobs mean or what they do. can anyone give me any advice on what they do and were to set them. i prefer clean tight b over anything. Also the two subs are 600 rms combined and my amp is only 500. does this mean that even if i cranked my amp all the way it still wouldn't hurt the subs?
