What did the film 'The Shawshank Redemption' teach you?

I use to watch that movie when I was a youngster in junior high and highschool, I was depressed all the time back then, poor as ****, and skipping school all the time. I learned from that movie that life can take everything away from you, your wife, your family, everything you love can be ripped from you, and you will be stuck in prison at times, maybe not a literal prison, but a prison of negative **** happening all the time, and nothing you can do when life is raping you but keep walking and thinking about those sandy beaches and waves and sunshine, and keep working towards your dreams, even if it is one pebble at a time, keep digging even when the tools you have to dig with are dull as ****, and you have to crawl through a mile of feces, because when you finally achieve success, its like a storm and the rain washing away all the nasty dirty grimeyness of all the bad times, and you finally feel clean and free. And that moment alone is worth it to keep trying, even if it never happens.
