Are the critics right in pointing out that Sampras had a very ordinary game barring his serve?

I don't agree with them 'coz u certainly can't win 14 slams with an ordinary game. I'm not making comparisons here 'coz i believe Federer's game is better suited than Pete's for all round tennis but u possibly can't undermine Pete's achievements by saying that all he had was his serve. There were other big servers like Ivanesavic,Rafter and Becker as well but they didn't win 14 slams,did they?
